REGIS MEXICO CITY www.ideurban.com • Location: Mexico City • Employees on-site: 350 • Scope: 492-foot-high hotel IDEURBAN is developing Mexico City’s new St. Regis hotel, rising 31 stories. « “IDEURBAN is recognized for its skilled professional staff, and its commitment to the highest quality and ethical standards.” –Starwood Hotels & Resorts A Saintly New Hotel IDEURBAN PROVIDED GENERAL CONTRACTING SERVICES ON A NEW ST. REGIS HOTEL IN MEXICO CITY. DEURBAN was established in 1974 and says it built itself into one of Mexico City’s leading urban development companies. The company says it delivers a complete range of integrated real estate solutions and construction services and has performed on projects in markets ranging from hospitality, residential, retail and commercial to highway infrastructure, mixed-use developments and urban planning. Recently, IDEURBAN finished work on the St. Regis Mexico City hotel. As developer and general contractor, it was the second St. Regis project for the company. Previously, it performed the same duties on the St. Regis Resort in Punta Mita. The company is privately held, and considers the development of St. Regis hotels as some of the most prestigious projects in the private-construction sector. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. owns and manages all St. Regis hotels, resorts and residencies. The Mexico City hotel is located on the Paseo de la Reforma Boulevard, which overlooks the Plaza of Diana. Starwood says the St. Regis is Mexico City’s most anticipated new landmark. It is the brand’s first downtown hotel in the region. The St. Regis Mexico City is 31 stories and features 189 guestrooms and 36 suites, each with views of the city. Standard rooms are 538 square feet, but the traveler who needs more space can chose the St. Regis suite with 3,089 square feet. The hotel also will inhabit a St. Regis signature Remède Spa, which is exclusive to the franchise. The company says its goal for the spa is “to surpass all expectations and to help you escape to a sanctuary of indulgence and relaxation.” Guests also can indulge at three restaurants: the Diana Restaurant, J&G Steakhouse and King Cole Bar. Grupo 1818 shares ownership of the St. Regis Mexico City and aided in bringing the hotel through development. The firm is a group of private investors with a broad range of experience in the construction industry and real estate development. “This visionary company has absolute faith in the future of Mexico’s tourism industry,” Starwood says. Yabu Pushelberg, international interior design firm with offices in New York and Toronto, designed the hotel. Starwood says Yabu Pushelberg is “renown for developing innovative interiors in collaboration with its clients, experimenting with new materials and forging relationships with independent artists.” Founded in 1980 by George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, the firm says it creates distinctive environments for a diverse and high-profile clientele. “Two of the most renowned interior designers working today, George and Glenn have been named to Interior Design magazine’s hall of fame and continue to win awards for their innovative work with some of the world’s leading hotel groups, chefs and retailers,” Yabu Pushelberg says. The architect for the project was Cesar Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. Founded in 1977 by Cesar Pelli and Fred Clarke, the firm has designed some of the world’s most recognizable buildings, includ- I CONSTRUCTION-TODAY.COM DECEMBER 2009 http://www.ideurban.com http://www.CONSTRUCTION-TODAY.COM
