Institutional | BOVIS LEND LEASE – FBI HEADQUARTERS DENVER Security Blanket BOVIS LEND LEASE TAKES ON THE FBI’S NEW DENVER HEADQUARTERS AND ITS SECURITY REQUIREMENTS. s the general contractor building the FBI’s new Denver headquarters, Bovis Lend Lease is tasked not only with satisfying the requirements of its client, but contributing to the safety of the American people. Fortunately, the experience and expertise of Bovis have contributed to numerous high-security facilities over the years, and that promises to provide both the FBI and the citizens it serves with peace of mind. Located on a 10-acre former airport site in Denver, the new 300,000-square-foot facility will encompass four levels and include a multilevel parking garage, according to Bovis. Construction on the project began in late August 2008 and is expected to be completed by February 2010. As would be expected for an office of the FBI, security has been a primary concern. Bovis had to work to construct the building to the stringent security requirements provided by the government. Some of these requirements included greater setbacks for perimeter security. Inside the building, entry to certain areas is restricted via internal access controls. The layout of the building is interspersed with courtyards, according to Bovis. This gives the entire space a much larger feel than it would have if all were contained in the same footprint. Bovis says the facility will be built to LEED sustainability specifications, but there is no word yet on whether or not it will attain LEED certification. »Bovis Lend Lease is building the FBI’s new headquarters for the Denver region.
