BY ALAN DORICH hen The Hayner Hoyt Corp. takes on a project, it makes sure that it operates while holding the customer in a high regard, President Jeremy Thurston says. “We try to make sure we look out for their best interests,” he says. “We act like we’re their construction department.” Based in Syracuse, N.Y., Hayner Hoyt provides general contracting and construction management services for a wide range of project types, including medical, religious, higher education, hospitality and retail work. Richard Hoyt started the company in 1966. Previously, Thurston explains, Hoyt took part in his family’s construc- construction department. W tion business, which built custom homes. But when Hoyt started his own business, he focused on light commercial work. Since then, the company has grown to 85 employees.
