The Rommel name had been a part the construction industry in Maryland for more than 50 years. Rommel Engineering and Construction was formed in 1988 and acquired through an asset purchase the mechanical and electrical Divisions of L. H. Cranston and Sons Inc. in September 2011. The purchase was made through a wholly owned subsidiary creating Rommel Cranston Construction LLC. Earlier in 2011, Rommel completed the acquisition of the service division of L. H. Cranston and Sons. The Rommel Cos. purchased and completely renovated a 44,000-square-foot building into offices, training center, a warehouse and fabrication shop. The headquarters will bring together all three of the Rommel Companies under one roof, and become the headquarters to the 310 employees. “The new headquarters will allow Rommel to better service the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., regions and allow us to expand in the region,” says Leon Bromley, president of Rommel Engineering and Construction, Rommel Cranston Construction and Rommel Cranston Service. Bromley has been with Rommel since he graduated from high school. With this experience, the president witnessed first-hand how the ups and downs of the construction industry have affected the company.
