BY JAMIE MORGAN B 42 years, Meta Housing »Over the pastincluding California-basedhas developed strong working relationships with its construction contractors, Cobalt Construction. uildings last a long time, and sometimes the relationships that formed those buildings last a long time, as well. Meta and Cobalt, a California-based developer and general contractor, respectively, have worked together for the last 25 years to provide the West Coast state with multifamily residences ranging from affordable to market-rate to luxury. “We’ve been working with Meta for a number of years,” says Larry Persons, Cobalt’s director of construction. “The owner came to us in the mid-’80s to build a small apartment project and as his portfolio grew, we kept growing with them and went on to build more and more of their projects. The other building is a three-story, 39-unit affordable housing structure for seniors earning between 30 to 60 percent of the area median income. Affordable as it may be, the project does not shy away from amenities that promote a healthily active lifestyle. The project features community rooms, a theater, art rooms, community gardens, a dog park, a library, barbecue 118 CONSTRUCTION-TODAY.COM OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2011 http://www.CONSTRUCTION-TODAY.COM
