HARVEY-CLEARY AIMS TO FINISH ITS VILLAGE PROJECT IN AUSTIN, TEXAS, NEXT YEAR.
Builders takes on a project,
it puts its customers first.
This approach has paid off
for the general contractor, Project Manager
Dan Shackleton says. "The majority of our
work is for repeat clients," he notes.
In fact, the firm is at work on a new project for repeat customer W2 Realty in Austin,
Texas. Harvey-Cleary is building The Village
on Triangle Avenue, a luxury senior living
community that will be in the heart of the
When finished, the Village will stand
seven stories and cover 320,000 square
feet with 206 living units. Its exterior will
feature limestone, stucco and metal panels,
and its interiors will incorporate vinyl and
carpet floors and smooth stone.
The Village also will offer residents an
array of amenities, including a salon, a
movie theater and four terrace decks. "It's
a retirement community, but at the same
time, they have independent living [features]," Shackleton says.
The Village, he adds, is located in Austin's
Triangle area, putting residents near
shopping, restaurants and The University of
Texas at Austin campus. "There's lots to do
and lots to see," he says.
Working Around Harvey
Harvey-Cleary started work on the Village
project this past January and is aiming for
completion in June 2018. The company,
Shackleton notes, has coped with challenges from Mother Nature, including Hurricane
Harvey, which caused minor flooding and
power outages in Austin.
However, "We did not have any materials
that were damaged," he reports, noting that
the majority of the impacts were due to the
hurricane's path through Houston, which
caused delays in material deliveries.
Harvey-Cleary's Houston-based subcontractors were impacted as well. "Some guys
couldn't make it to Austin for two weeks,"

Shackleton says. "Guys not getting to the
shop to fabricate stuff has definitely impacted our project."
Harvey-Cleary is keeping safe as it builds
the Village. "Safety is always our No. 1
priority," Shackleton declares, noting that
the company has implemented multiple
protocols for its superintendents and project managers.
