Established in 1982, Avon Contractors performs commercial drywall,
light gauge metal framing, cold-formed exterior framing, acoustics
and specialty carpentry projects. "We will take a project from structural steel and go from there," Kleinstein says. "There's nothing in
carpentry that we can't do."
The company has historically worked in New York, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania and Connecticut, but is expanding its reach as needed.
"We will go where the work is, to a degree," he adds. "We will travel if
market demand pulls us further south or north."
The majority of the company's projects are big-box and large retail
stores including Target, Whole Foods, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, J.C.
Penney, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Dicks Sporting Goods. Projects of
these types are rapidly growing in number in the regions where the

to get exceptional production and quality from their crews."
The company uses only union workers on its projects. Avon
Contractors regularly offers training to employees to increase their
already high skill levels. This includes safety training pertaining to
the company's core competencies. "We're constantly updating our
men on safety procedures and policies, including using harnesses,
since we do a lot of exterior framing and use a lot of lifts and booms,"
Kleinstein adds. "First and foremost, we have to be safe."

Kenneth Avon says the company will continue to increase its project volume as well as its geographic reach. "As we continue to perform

expand our operations throughout the Northeast," he adds.
Avon Contractors' recent projects include all of the carpentry work
for a new dormitory building at Stony Brook University in Stony
Brook, N.Y. The six-story, 150,000 square-foot building will house
more than 400 students. Avon was responsible for all of the metal
